Did I say 2 decades? Let’s make that over 20 years, sounds more impressive. 13 of which years, I worked my way through various independent advertising agencies as a copywriter. From traditional print advertising and direct-response to digital and social, while being often responsible for creative and strategy. Since 2011, I have been a fulltime freelance copywriter, working on projects big and small for corporates, SMEs, retail, industrial, tech, trading and many more. And in the last 5 years I have transitioned to a marketing consultant; helping businesses align marketing to their business aims and aspirations. Oh yeah, I also got married and became a father, both of which are much more challenging than any marketing conundrum. So bring it on!
I have a wife and two kids. I have a wife and two kids. I have a wife and two kids. I have a wife and two kids. I have a wife and two kids. I have a wife and two kids. I have a wife and two kids. I have a wife and two kids. I have a wife and two kids. But yes, if time permits I can help out – and for legit causes only.
It all depends on the engagement level and the number of hours or days I estimate to spend on a particular project. In essence, there are 3 ways:
1. One-off
A lump sum upfront fee for straight forward, single-task projects with clearly defined deliverables. Usually this type of projects can be completed within 2 weeks, including revisions. For example, content for corporate profiles, website, videos, catalogues, leaflets and the like.
2. Contract
This is for more complex work that has multiple deliverables such as a marketing campaign or branding effort. These projects take a minimum of 1 month and up to 3 months to complete. Payment is progressive as and when certain milestones are met. For example, you need to revamp your entire marketing and require the full scope of content and/or creative for tagline, website, corporate profile, social media and e-brochures.
3. Retainer
This will be an agreed sum to be paid monthly. Usually for long-term, continuous projects where I will help to analyse, conceive and execute the entire marketing game plan for your business. These projects last a minimum of 6 months, and until you feel my services are no longer required, mutually agreed of course. This mode of engagement is typically for a new businesses, products or services that need to be launched into the market and thereafter monitored, tweaked and perfected to achieve optimum results.
Live, for approximately a year.
I understand, this is the now economy, even a 24-hour turnaround seems far too long. Everyone wants everything right this second. Look, I can work on rush projects, but honestly, I rather not. Only because whatever I end up delivering to you will not be my best. A reasonable amount of incubation time will work wonders to uncover insightful communication solutions. Trust me, everything needs a plan, along with a methodical approach. Then there’s research, competitive analysis, concepting, drafting, re-drafting, deleting, drafting again, writing, eating, deleting again, thinking, sleeping, writing the final draft, proofreading, proofreading again, finalising and last-call check before I deliver… all of these take time. If you still want something done in a jiffy; may I suggest fiverr.com or freelancer.com. Both these sites are pretty good for fast turnarounds, and diluted work.
Yes. Step 1 – Write. Step 2 – Write some more. Step 3 – done!
Credible, genuine and friendly is my tone and manner. But this doesn’t always work for everyone. Depending on your business or product persona, I can usually adapt to achieve the desired tone. Or I can lead you to a better-suited writer for your needs.
Yes, but only on a contract or retainer basis.
Even my kids draw better stick figures. But I do know a few good people that I can recommend.
Hey, stop judging me.
Sure, I’ll tell you my rates if you can clue me in on the following:
i) What are your deliverables?
ii) Are we starting from scratch, or do you have a plan?
iii) Any reference materials?
iv) Technical or no?
v) Timeline?
Just send me a buzz.
I do. This website is kind of like my portfolio, oh and there are my videos (coming soon) as well. I somehow feel past performance does not guarantee future results. Nevertheless, if you really need one, send me a buzz.
My condolences.
Generally initial meets are online. Then depending on scope and requirements, we can schedule a face-to-face, sure.
I used to have a dog as a kid. He died. My dad shot him. True freaking story! Ask me about it if we ever chat.
